Consulting hours

Starting from Monday March the 3rd, an assistant will be available to answer your questions concerning the exercises and their solutions.




Mode of examination

Computer-based examination, with both programming and theoretical exercises (180 min.).

There will be two quick (20 min.) assessments during the semester. The attendance is not mandatory.

The points awarded in the quick assessments will be taken into account as a bonus for the grade of the final examination with a weight of roughly 10%.
The language of examination is German. However it can be switched to English (for MSc students who need this course as additional requirement).

Old exams. Numerische Mathematik I (same password as for the lecture notes): Summer 2011 with solutions, Winter 2012 with solutions, Summer 2012 with solutions. In addition Winter 2013 and Summer 2013 (solutions not available).

ETH students can get for free the network version of Matlab via Stud-IDES (Product name 'Matlab free'). Alternatively the free software Octave can be used. Due to compatibility problems Scilab, or similar are not recommended.
