Please note that this page is old.
Check in the VVZ for a current information.

Ferienpräsenz: we offer consultation hours during the semester break where you can ask question about the lecture material. For the dates see  this document (in German). It also lists the dates for the Prüfungseinsicht.

Lecturer: Ralf Hiptmair

Assistants: Laura Scarabosio, Elke Spindler, Carolina Urzua Torres.

Assistant for C++ support: Thomas Häner (email address: thomas.haener@student.ethz.ch).

Lecture hours:

Exercise classes:

For NOT CSE students (INFK or others), please choose an exercise class here.
For CSE students, please attend your dedicated tutorial class.

Assistants' Consultation hours:

We offer presence hours every Thursday from 17:15 to 18:00 in HG G 26.3 .

Assignments

There will be assignment every week, handed out every Wednesday (first time on February 18th).

You can hand in your solutions either during the exercise class or in the labeled box at HG G 53.X (colored boxes next to the printer).

Testat requirements: NONE.

For submitting your code, please use the online submission interface and choose the course n. 7.

Exam inspection

The students that took part at the exam of 22 August have the chance to see their exam on Tuesday, 22 September, from 12:00 to 13:00, in room ML J 34.3.

Aims of the course

Introduce students of Applied Mathematics, Computational Science and Engineering and Computer Science to the most widely used numerical solution methods for ordinary and partial differential equations, their mathematical properties, and their computer implementation.

Students should be able to:

Programming Language: implementations will be done in MATLAB / Python and C++.
