Subscribing to the GT list

In order to subscribe to the GT list, send an email message to
majordomo@warwick.ac.uk
This message should contain the single line:

The message must be sent from the email address to which you wish mail from the journal to be sent. In order to unsubscribe from the GT list send an email message (from the subscribing email address) to
majordomo@warwick.ac.uk
containing the single line:
unsubscribe gtlist

You will receive an appropriate acknowledgment for each of these messages. If your attempts either to subscribe or unsubscribe fail, then please write to us at gt@maths.warwick.ac.uk with the problem.

Note that the messages to subscribe or unsubscribe must be sent to majordomo@warwick.ac.uk and not to gt@maths.warwick.ac.uk or to gtlist@warwick.ac.uk .

Editors of the journal and published authors are automatically subscribed to the list unless they specifically request otherwise.

Use of the GT list

Subscribers will receive, by email, abstracts of papers published in Geometry & Topology, as they are published. They will also receive discussion items emailed to us by subscribers (or by anyone else) which we consider to be of general interest. If you have an item which you wish to be mailed out to the GT list then send it (by email) to: gtlist@warwick.ac.uk

We shall excercise discretion as to which items are actually distributed to the list. Suitable items might discuss (constructively) a paper published in the journal or might make general points about electronic journals or about Geometry & Topology or about publication policy. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of suitable topics, but we do not intend to run a general chat shop. Please keep your item as short as reasonable and to the point. We reserve the right to cut items before distribution.

Archiving GT discussions

All items mailed out to the GT list, are archived in the file gtlist.txt which will form a cumulative record of GT discussions. This file is located in the gt/aux/ subdirectory and can be collected by anonymous ftp or inspected at http://www.maths.warwick.ac.uk/gt/ftp/aux/gtlist.txt. If this file grows uncomfortably large, then we shall split it in some appropriate way.

If items are relevant to particular papers, and of more than passing interest, then they will also be stored in some form in the auxiliary area reserved for that particular paper. Thus, for example, an item relevant to Volume 2 (1998) paper 7 would be placed in the subdirectory gt/aux/1998-7/ . (This directory would also contain other auxiliary material relevant to this paper.)
