Description After a short introduction to cube complexes (for those unfamiliar with the topic) we will focus on the paper

F. Haglund, D. Wise: Special cube complexes, GAFA, 2008
(http://www.springerlink.com/content/q4t2224641r6n605)

A cube complex is special if it has no "pathological" hyperplanes. The central result of the paper states that a special complex of non-positive curvature has linear fundamental group. This is proved by establishing a local isometry of such a complex with the standard complex of a right-angled Artin group. Other results concern the separability of quasiconvex subgroups and certain algebraic properties of pi_1.
